Introduction

Back in the concept stages for this site, the BrushThralls decided that our target audience would be all modelers and painters of all skill and experience levels. We wanted something for everybody. Not an easy task to be sure. While most of the BrushThralls have been in the hobby for many years, many of our readers have not. One of the projects we decided to tackle for that section of our audience was what most players who are new to WARMACHINE start with - the box set.

Planning

Being a fairly slow modeler and painter who is easily distracted, I know from the beginning this will be a challenge for me. Anyone who has ever seen my workspace can attest to the fact that I literally have hundreds of half finished projects scattered about. This will take planning and discipline, two things I'm not known for. I have decided to sit down and outline the steps I feel it will take to complete the box set in the amount of time we've specified. Factoring in the time it will take to stop and take pictures along the way, I'm fairly sure I won't make it, but I'm determined to try.

Here is my outline for this project:

• Day 1: Model Preparation
• Day 2: Assembly & Fixing the "Khador Gap"
• Day 3: Assembly (cont.) & Pinning
• Day 4: Basing Materials
• Day 5: Priming
• Day 6: Metals
• Day 7: Base Coating Red
• Day 8: Highlighting Red
• Day 9: Details & Sealing
• Day 10: Base Finishing

When I say Day, my average time per day that I can spend working on models is about 3 hours if I'm lucky. I know I will need one weekend in there where I can spend 7-8 hours per day, so I decide to start on a Sunday so that Days 7 & 8 will fall on the weekend. Most of the time will be spent there, so I will really need it. The planning is done. Let's get to work, shall we?
